Taking measurements, noting conditions and collecting equipment information are routine activities in architecture projects. Field surveys need organization and care. Few projects are next door. More likely they are across town, or across the state, even across the nation. Given the nature of project design budgets, a second visit can get expensive, even across town. Being prepared, organized, swift and sure are investments well worth the effort.
Survey forms are one method of preparation. Some firms use them infrequently, eschewing the preparation time. That preparation time is often taken up with information design concerns. Landwave always invests in field preparation work. It creates much more accurate data and shifts the time budget in the field. This is an example of a form supplied by a customer that we re-wrote from the top down. We collected the required field information in half the time with fewer errors .
